The seminar on antisemitism with Zachary Schaffer, hosted by Kos & Kaos and Det Mosaiske Trossamfund Oslo on February 24, 2025, was a resounding success. Over 60 participants attended across two sessions at Litteraturhuset i Oslo, including representatives from NRK, LO, Lærerforbundet, Nansen-senteret, Antirasistisk Senter, Arkivet, and HL-senteret.
Zachary Schaffer led a powerful session, taking participants on a historical and analytical journey to understand who the Jewish people are and how antisemitism has evolved from before the time of Jesus to today. He explored the recurring cycle of antisemitism, showing how it adapts and resurfaces in different forms, and highlighted how contemporary antisemitism manifests through anti-Israel hate and anti-Zionism.
The response was overwhelmingly positive, with many participants describing the session as eye-opening. It challenged prevailing narratives and sparked important discussions about the dangers of anti-Zionism as a form of antisemitism. The impact of the seminar extended beyond the event itself, as several media outlets published articles on these key insights, helping to shift public discourse on the issue.
With such strong engagement and interest, Kos & Kaos looks forward to continuing this critical conversation and creating more opportunities to promote a nuanced and informed understanding of antisemitism in today’s society.
