Copenhagen, Denmark - Aug 28. 2023

A highly successful event unfolded in Oslo, drawing 150 attendees and a substantial waiting list. Held in a beautifully decorated venue, the evening featured a captivating roundtable discussion on the intricacies of discussing Israel and the media’s role in shaping perceptions. The panel comprised accomplished journalists from both Israel and Norway, moderated by renowned Norwegian author Bjørn Gabrielsen. Notable figures included Hanne Skartveit, Erling Rimehaug, Sidsel Wold, Nora Savosnick, Michael Hauser Tov, and Antonia Yamin, along with a representative from the organization Kos & Kaos.

The central question, “Why is it so hard to talk about Israel?” spurred a diverse and nuanced discussion, ranging from pro-Israeli to pro-Palestinian perspectives. Among the attendees were prominent Norwegian authors, historians, the Israeli ambassador, and leaders of the Jewish community in Oslo.

The conversation, lasting two engaging hours, touched on the complexities of discussing Israel in Norway and highlighted instances of media bias. The event concluded with attendees mingling over Kosher Israeli wine and cheese, fostering further dialogue and community among participants. Ultimately, the evening underscored the importance of responsible journalism and open dialogue in addressing intricate geopolitical issues, leaving attendees with much to contemplate and discuss.

The panel included Andrew Srulevitch from the Anti-Defamation League, Rabbi Yoav Melchior, and Louise Kahn and Ester Nafstad from Kos & Kaos.

Andrew Srulevitch, with his profound knowledge and extensive experience in combating antisemitism and discrimination, presented a thorough introduction on ADL’s laudable efforts in this realm. The atmosphere was further enriched by the contributions of Rabbi Yoav Melchior, and the dynamic duo from Kos & Kaos, Louise Kahn and Ester Nafstad. Their perspectives added depth and diversity to the discussions, making for a truly dynamic think tank.

Beyond the intellectually stimulating discussions, the evening also had its delightful moments of leisure. HannukaH Workshop
Oslo, Norway - Dec. 2022

Inspired by the Norwegian Christmas tradition of making home-made gifts right before the holidays, we decided to make a similar style Hanukah workshop. Around 50 young Jewish adults age 20-45 gathered in the Jewish museum where we started the evening with an excellent introduction to the work of  social entrepreneurs Beto Guzman, Parker Zaglin from Helsinki and Ayalet Gotlieb from the municipality of Tel Aviv. Followed by a workshop  decorating high-end  notebooks with already cut out felt of Jewish symbols, animals and rhinestones. We served Israeli wine and Latkes. The evening ended late in the night and was a huge success.

Big Thank you to our sponsors: The Jewish Museum, Scandza Food, Schusterman Foundation and the Junction (JDC).

Hiking Trip
Besseggen, Jotunheiem - Sept. 2022

Incredible beautiful weekend with around 30 young adults from all the Nordic countries in Norway’s most iconic mountains Jotunheiem. The weekend started with Shabath Dinner at the Hotel Gjendesheim, followed by a conversation on antisemitism by Beto Guzman. On Saturday, we all took a boat into the fjord and started the 8 hour long hike over the Besseggen mountain which includes climbing. Upon arriving back to the hotel after the hike, a hot tub was waiting for us with some nice Israeli whiskey followed by a conversation with our guests Omer Zerahia (entrepreneur) and Michael Hauser Tov (political chief writer at Haaretz).  Sunday we travelled by bus to the Sjoa river where we did rafting for 2 hours. The weekend ended with a nice lunch.
